Saturday, October 29, 2016 Our 55th anniversary and Terry's birthday,both on Friday the 28th

Hi! Wow, the last post was dated in March. Not sure why, but I just haven't been moved to write for a long time. And now it is time again! I'll try to be here regularly again.

We've had a busy month. We have been blessed to celebrate our 55th anniversary yesterday! Al, Lisa and the boys, and Krause's and Hunt's joined us for supper last night at Prairie's Edge casino last night. They had a buffet, which was good, not quite up to their usual standard, but still managed to fill us up. We rode over in our new (to us) vehicle. We traded in the Cadillac for a Ford Flex and are really enjoying it. We took it for a road trip for 10 days in Wisconsin and it was a delight. Dan took us to Door County, all the way to the Washington Island ferry. It was peak time for color, and we really enjoyed seeing all God's glory!

We were able to take in a JV football game Monday and watched our boys play football! Justin and Zachary both went out for football this year. They are at Manitowac Lutheran High School, man, 2 boys in high school! Tuesday we left for Hartford to spend a few days with Stan and Carol. They moved there from Washington in August to be closer to Jeff and Heidi and their families. They have a beautiful home and really showed us a good time. Carol and I were able to do our favorite thing, shop! We spent a few hours in Cedarburg, and did some antiquing, always a fun time, even if we don't buy anything. We stayed up late both nights playing games.

From there we went up to Deb and Rich's. Saturday we drove over to the Crave's and spent time with Leah and her family. They have a lovely home, very country. Leah gave us a tour of Crave Dairy. We weren't able to tour the cheese factory, but saw everything else. That is quite an operation.

Sunday we went to church with Deb and Rich in Ripon, and after breakfast, Rich gave us a tour of Ripon. He drives bus out of there. Then we headed to Manitowac to enjoy the high school concert. Tosha directs one of the choirs and the boys sing in the choirs. Zachary also plays drums in the band. It was such fun, lots of talent in the school! They had a fund raiser and a silent auction. I put my bid on several things, assuring Orrin that I would surely not win anything. Hmmm, well, I did win a Christmas quilt! It's lovely, a variation of the log cabin. All for a good cause!

Coming back to their house, Dan saved my life! I took a misstep coming into the house from the garage, and he grabbed me and kept me from a nasty fall onto the cement floor. Thank you again, Dan!

We headed home on Monday, and I'm still doing laundry. haha

Last night I woke up at 2 and realized we were in the dark. Literally! Our electricity was off. We called it in and about an hour later it came back on. We're not sure what happened, we didn't have a bad storm or anything. Some rain is all. I'm thinking it went off around 12, so was off for 3 or 4 hours. I got out the battery run candles and we just both nodded off to sleep until we got electricity back.

Today was a lazy day for both of us. I read the book for book club, I like to wait until it's closer to book club day so it's fresh in my mind, but last month I left it too late and didn't get the one read. This month it's Ordinary Grace by Wm. Kent Krueger. It was really good. He writes a lot of Junior books, and this one was told from the perspective of a young person, but was very interesting.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes, we appreciated it. We've been enjoying the pictures coming from Walt Disney World. Jeremy and Laura and Maria are there. The look on Maria's face is priceless.

Hugs from Canby.

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Good evening! I know I've been MIA for a few days, I've been dealing with a stomach bug and just haven't felt much like being on the computer. I think I'm seeing the end of it (I hope!) I missed Treadlers yesterday and bible study this morning, I just didn't think I'd better go, I've needed to stick close to the bathroom.

I made a normal supper tonight and so far, so good.

We had a nice weekend in Gibbon. We had an Easter breakfast, and unfortunately, it didn't stay with me. We went to Winthrop for an Easter buffet, which smelled and looked wonderful! I had a glass of 7-up and a cracker. But the others assured me that the meal was very good.

Since then I've mostly just stayed put. I did get a book read. And we went into Madison for our tax report. It was actually pretty good, which was a relief. So that's done for the year.

And not much to add to that.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Good Friday. March 25, 2016

A blessed Good Friday. I think it was quite nice again today, I really didn't stick my  head too far out.  I'm feeling a lot better, not 100% maybe 96%?

We decided to watch the service on live streaming tonight. Orrin didn't think it was a good idea to go out just yet. Tomorrow we'll be going to Gibbon to spend the holiday weekend with Al, Lisa and the boys.  We really like the live streaming as a back up. I was happy that they did it for tonight's service. The 4 o'clock service, not the Tennabrae service.

Not much to report on today, I cancelled my Chiropractic appointment, I decided I'd better not chance that either. I've been eating meals today though, and all seems fine.

Cori posted a picture of Jack smiling, he's getting so big!! I hope you were all able to see it on facebook. He is really a little chunky monkey. The picture just made you want to reach in and snuggle him!  Her and the kids are spending the weekend in Rapid City.

And that's about it here. I may not post again until Sunday night when we get home. Have a very blessed Easter and rejoice in the great sacrifice that our Saviour made for us all.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Maundy Thursday, March 24, 2016

Hi! This will be short again, I'm still not feeling great. In fact, it has escalated to a throwing up kind of sick.  Hopefully, that will be just a one off.  My head is pounding, too. I'm afraid to take too many pills, it may upset the tummy again.

I slept quite a bit again, and now I'm ready to do the same.  :(  Sure hope none of you get this bug.

Tosha was nice enough to share the Manitowac HS Easter concert. We haven't had time to listen to it yet, Orrin is already asleep in his magic chair.

I did eat some crackers and had a small dish of cereal, hope they stay down.  I had to cancel my chiro appointment, will try for tomorrow.

And that's it for tonight. Hugs,

Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Wednesday, March 23, 2016 Day of sickness

This will probably be short. Midmorning, I had the onset of a nasty cold. Liquid leaking from nose and eyes, sore throat, just feeling crappy (pardon the expression).

So I basically just laid around most of the day, napping off and on. Tonight I did the netti pot thing and brushed the heck out of my teeth, and then did a thorough listerine rinse. I sure hope it works. I've been taking cold pills off and on and Cori told me to take some Spark, so I did.  I'm trying to nip this thing in the bud if I can. It sure came on fast.   Not sure where I picked it up.

I did get a load of laundry done. And my appetite has been fine. Just feeling generally icky and headachy. I don't even know if some of those are words!

And that's pretty much it for today.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Good evening! It was a lovely day today, but trending a bit cooler. I see that there is some snow on the way, but I think it will stay south of us. It looks like it may hit Wisconsin kind of hard, though. Stay warm and stay safe. Winter is not done with us.

I had a few errands to run, but first I had some cards to make and get ready to mail. I finished 6 cards!! Only 5 more to go! But they're for guys, and they are the hardest to do. I got those 6 in the mail today, stopped at the library and then at the credit union.

I had to get some more papers to the tax lady, so drove from Canby to Madison for that. Grabbed a piece of pizza at Casey's and then headed home. I wasn't home for long before a nasty cold hit. I was so tired, so took a nap, and woke up with congestion and a constantly runny nose, which is still with me. So this will be short.

Just one of the cards I finished.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Monday, March 21, 2016

Oh, wow, here I am, two days in a row!! Yea me.

I had a full day today, starting off with 4 appointments. My first was a badly needed haircut, followed by a manicure. These always include some nice visiting. I feel like I know these gals well. They are in Montevideo.

Something interesting I discovered there. My manicurist's (is that a word?) husband was one of the earliest recipients of a heart transplant. This was 28 years ago!! He was #137 at the U of M. The anti rejection medications he takes are very hard on the body, and he needs a hip replacement (both hips) and both knees. At that time heart transplants were new and not done that often. Just was a very interesting conversation.

When I was done there, it was off to Madison to meet Orrin for a visit with our tax lady, to drop off all of our information. That didn't take too long. We had lunch at The Pantry, we hadn't eaten there in a long time. It was okay, we had a rice/chicken hot dish, heavy on the rice. Luckily we ordered half orders, which was plenty!!

Then I called the chiropractor to see if he could get me in at 12:30. Luckily he could. My arm had been sore, sort of like tennis elbow, I think an aftereffect of my earlier mishap. He really gave that a good workout, and it feels marvelous tonight!! I think I can go to bed without tylenol.

So that was in Dawson. And then I drove south to Arlys' for club. We hadn't met since November, and I really was looking forward to that. She made a good lemon dessert and we had fun with our usual game of garbage. There were just 6 of us, our club is down to 7 now, but one of them is still in AZ. I was sorry to hear that she was having radiation for cancer, she's had a lot of problems with that. We talked about golfing this summer, I am determined that Orrin and I will get out on the course this year, we never even played one round last year!! We all just had a good, enjoyable visit. Next month we'll meet in the evening again.

I got home around 5:30. We had a supper of left over tater tot hot dish, I guess it was the day for hot dishes.  Then we settled in to watch the first show of the season of Dancing With the Stars. I made it about half way through, not sure how long Orrin lasted. I didn't think it would be a very interesting group this year, but it turned out to be pretty good. I don't know if they could make the ladies costumes any skimpier. And the men have very impressive physiques, but do we really need to see any more bare chests? But the dancing is very good. I'm surprised that Orrin seems to enjoy the show too, or is he just humoring me?

I woke up from the couch and thought I would get online and actually follow up on this blog. And now it's time to move to the bed. I believe Orrin has already headed there.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy.

Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016

Oh, my I was reminded today that I hadn't blogged for a long time, so I checked it out. All I can say is ARGHHH!! So sorry. Let me get this ball rolling again, please. If I had a reasonable excuse I would give it, but I don't.

We went to early church this morning, it was a wonderful service. The grade school children sang "Hosanna In The Streets" and did a marvelous rendition. The music director really does an amazing job with all of the groups. The children marched in with palms and then went to the balcony for the music. Other years they would hand out palms and anyone that wanted to could walk up the aisle with them. I think we like it this way better.

After church there was bible study, we made it through 1 chapter of 2 Corinthians. Wednesday morning we had women's bible study and really had a lively discussion, I love it when ideas and feelings are exchanged. We have a nice mix for women's study, of all ages.

After bible study today we went to the DQ for lunch with Terry and Kathy, and from there we separated. The men went to the gun show and Kathy and I went to the craft show at the mall. There certainly weren't the # of exhibitors that they had in the past, but there was a nice bunch of displays. There was a jewelry maker from Fargo that I was especially drawn to, and brought home a  necklace and earring set and a few pairs of earrings. Orrin was thrilled.

We were done at the mall long before the guys, so we headed to Krause's where Kathy and I got in a couple games of Scrabble. Her experience with it sure showed, she tromped me in the first game. In  my defense, I had mostly 1 point words and a lot of vowels. The second game was more even, I took an early lead and it was neck and neck to the end. When Kathy won.  :(

She had a roast in the slow cooker all day, so it was decided that we would have supper with them. It was great, mashed potatoes, corn, roast beef, all of the good stuff. And I felt stuffed afterwards. At that point, we realized we'd better get home as Teddy had been home along all day.

He was a good fellow though, and didn't make any kind of a mess. He was pretty anxious to get out the door though. This morning when I put him out, he was acting kind of anxious so I thought I'd better see what was up. I stepped out and immediately heard the yipping of coyote over by the grove. I didn't let him out very long and he was happy to get inside again. I'm always afraid he will try to chase after them, and he would make a nice, tasty meal for them. Of course, he thinks he's the mighty hunter, so it's always a worry!!

It would be hard to fill in the last several days (weeks?) so I won't try. Most of them were not all that interesting. I am woefully behind on my birthday cards, I do apologize, they will get out this week!!!  I did waste a whole day reading a mystery.

And I believe that is it for tonight. I won't make promises, but will definitely try harder to keep this active. We hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Good evening! Don't know how long this will be, I'm kind of tired. We've had a long day. I made pancakes for breakfast. We left for Watertown around 11:30. We had lunch at the Stockman's Cafe, because we'd heard so many good things about them. It was okay. Not outstanding, just okay.

Then we went to Snyder eye clinic and picked up our new specs. I think I'm going to like mine, they seem much lighter than the other pair. Orrin's are almost the same as what he had. I'll take a selfie tomorrow and post it.

Orrin needed to order some shop tickets, as Office Max closed, and that's where he always got his. So we went to Office Peeps, no problem.

Then, just to kill some time we stopped at HyVee for a few things. Then it was off to first service. Pastor Lindhorst officiated, and he sang, he has a wonderful voice.

First of all, the day started off with Cori letting us know that they had to take Jack to the hospital, he was having trouble breathing. So they put him on oxygen. He also has pneumonia. Poor little guy, he's been pretty miserable. They came close to putting him in ICU, but he's improving now. Thank goodness he's a strong little baby. Please say some prayers for him, and also for Riley, as she has RSV also.

And now I'm going to settle down and probably fall asleep in front of the TV. Orrin is already there.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

Hi! Sorry to be missing in action so long, no excuse really, just haven't gone on here.

Last Friday, my friend Carrie was over to play with me again! She loves the Cricut, and we're kind of learning together. She started a new job this week, so probably won't get over as often. I'm so glad she was able to find something, a lot of the past EMPI employees are still looking. About 6 of them are also starting at Daktronics, where she is working.

Cori posted that Jack and Riley both have RSV. Please pray for a quick recovery for them both. It's fortunate that Jack is a big boy, so is better able to fight it off. He's up to 12# 8 oz. and not even a month old.

Last Wednesday morning, I was leaving for bible study, and remembered something in the house, so I got out of the pickup, much too quickly, and slid on the ice. I landed on my bum, so damage was at a minimum, but was really sore, and had headaches for the rest of the week. Yesterday Orrin and I had chiropractic appointments, and apparently I really needed that adjustment. I have to go back again on Friday, but this has helped already.

I did stay after bible study and worked at GSI, and then went to early service. Orrin stayed home, although I did offer to come back for him. Tomorrow night we'll both go. We both ordered new glasses and they are ready, so we'll go early enough to pick them up.

We had lunch at Four Seasons with Kathy and Terry Sunday. They left for AZ last night, and will be back the end of the week. They'll be able to enjoy a little sunshine, though it's been pretty nice here. Not a lot of sunshine, it's been kind of gloomy, but it's been fairly warm.

Maria was so happy, she found an antler shed in their yard. How exciting for her! We were hoping to get over there last Saturday, but it didn't work out.

I did get several cards made and sent off, and still have a few to do. And that's all for tonight!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2016

I'm not sure how long this will be, I'm really tired tonight. But it's been much too long since my last post, so here we go -

It was a long day today. Orrin had a Dr. appointment this morning, so we left home a little after 9, with Teddy in tow. We dropped him off at my EMPI friend, Kassie, in Clear Lake, to be groomed. Vicki wasn't able to, so I gave Kassie a call, and she came through! This is a lady that has 4 little boys, which includes a set of twins. The other two are under 5. Anyway, she did a great job, and Teddy seemed happy as could be.

We made it in time for Orrin's appointment, and I took care of some business while there. Then we decided to have lunch at the Wheel Inn, which was yummy. I thought a piece of pie would be nice, which ended up costing as much as my sandwich/soup special!! Then we needed to get to WalMart for our prescriptions and a few other things. We had to kill time until our 2 o'clock eye doctor appointments.

They both went well, and then, since frames were half price, we both decided we would get new glasses! I just had a slight change, but new frames sounded good. hehe  Dad's are just about like what he had, but he's happy too.

Then we had a little time before 4 o'clock church. There was lunch after church, too, and had a nice visit with friends. Krauses, Kreugers, Noeldners and us, just a chatty bunch!

Orrin was anxious to get home so we were headed back to Clear Lake before 6. Stopped to pick up Teddy, he smelled so good! She cut his ears short, and I really like that look. No more ears dragging in his bowl.

Not too much to catch up on from the last several days. Sunday it was blowing and snowing, but we decided to try heading to church, which worked out fine. The winds were supposed to be up to 55 MPH. Luckily, there wasn't a lot of fresh snow.

And I am now officially pooped. Have a great night!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and a trimmed up Teddy, ready for the weekend in Bismark!

Thursday, February 4, 2016

Good evening! I'm still having trouble getting used to the new month. I keep wanting to type January!

Yesterday was quiet for most of the day, but then Darwin called and suggested we go over to Granite Falls for the buffet at the casino. So then I decided I should bake some banana bars to have when we got back. And decided also that some dusting and vacuuming was in order.

They were here a little after 4. We did some "scenic" driving around the Granite area and got to the casino after 5:30. They have an excellent buffet, but like most buffets, one tends to eat too much. Good stuff though! They did have bread pudding, but the sign said it was prepared on January 27. Hmm, it did look pretty dry. Even though I love bread pudding, I passed on that one. We visited a while and let the meal digest and then headed home around 7. And when we got here, they declined coming in for bars and ice cream! So I guess I have to freeze some of those bars.

Today I started a new book, so didn't get things done that I had intended to do. Oh, well.

I forgot to mention before, but when we went to church on Sunday (we went to late service, since we were staying for pot luck and annual meeting) we were sitting next to a young family. Their little boy (around 3 or 4) looked over at me and smiled, and said "I like your haircut!" I'm thinking he meant the white hair, but it was so cute!

And that's all folks!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016 (and update on 1 and 2)

Hi, I'm writing this early to catch up on the last two days. I may be back later tonight.  It was women's bible study this morning, but I decided to stay safe and stay home. The snow has stopped, but there's enough out there to be a problem with the winds we're supposed to be getting. It's February, so I guess some weather can be expected.

Monday I spent a good part of the day stamping some images so I can do some coloring this week. I have enough stamped to keep me happy for the rest of the year I think!

Yesterday I went into Canby for book club. We reviewed the Lorna Landvik book "Best to Laugh". I've read quite a few of hers, they're entertaining. She's from Minnesota. Our next book is Michael Connelly's latest, The Crossing, which I've already read. If you like his, it's very good. He's the author of "The Lincoln Lawyer". One of his characters is Heronimus (sp) Bosch, or just Harry Bosch. There is a series on Amazon Prime tv titled Bosch. We watched the first season, I'm not sure if the second season is out yet.

Anyway, from book club I went over to Trinity Treadlers. We're starting around 11 now, so I just made it in time for lunch! After lunch, I looked out and just decided I'd better get home. Nothing like just eating and running! I'm glad I did leave though, the snow kept falling and the wind was quite strong. Visibility was 1/4 mile or less most of the way home. Schools all around were closing. I hope the other ladies all made it home safely.

I read Kathy's blog and see that their flight home was cancelled, no surprise there. Hopefully they'll be able to fly home today.

Today was supposed to be women's bible study, followed by working at GSI, but as I said, that got scrubbed. I'll maybe try to get in to help at GSI another day, when the sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing!

Now I'm going to do the bible study alone, :(. And thinking I'll do some baking and some coloring of those images. Maybe even some organizing and decluttering!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Saturday/Sunday, January 30/31, 2016

Good evening! I seem to be doing this in doubles lately. Saturday was very quiet. I realized we were down to our last loaf of bread, so I baked some. And that's about as exciting as it got. I asked Orrin if he wanted french toast for supper (haven't done that for a while) and it really tastes different with homemade bread. It soaks up the egg mixture a lot more.

There was annual meeting with a pot luck dinner today, so we went to late service.  We went early enough to go to bible study, but then it turned out that there wasn't our regular bible study with our usual group. There was a presentation in the fellowship hall led by Pastor Lindhorst, about Christian education.

We then went to second service. 3 of the choirs sang, the lower grades from St. Martin's and the upper grades from St. Martin's and the honor choir from GPLHS. It was very nice. And Pastor Lindhorst had an especially good sermon, again about Christian education and the parent's role in that. Here is the link to the service, please watch it if you can http://www.stmartinschurch.com/current-service

There was a surprising turnout at second service, that's usually not as well attended as first service. And after that, we had a potluck meal in the fellowship hall.

Followed by the annual meeting. They had election of officers and of the different committees, etc. They also had a discussion about adding 3 yr. old to the 4 yr. old daycare. This is going to involve adding on to the school building. They did decide to go ahead with preliminary investigation by hiring an architect, etc. All of these things are possible by the generous endowment that the church received the end of last year. We don't have any capital debt right now. Praise be to God!

We stopped at WalMart for some meds and a few other things. Orrin was going to get a haircut, but there was a 2 hour wait. So he remains shaggy.

Cori had called yesterday to tell us that baptism was going to be Valentine's Day. Can't wait to see that big boy!

And that's all there is! Hugs,
Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Thursday/Friday, January 28/29, 2016

We are having a spring thaw! It was in the 40's yesterday and today. Wonderful! After all the excitement died down from Jack Joseph's birth, yesterday was pretty quiet. If you hadn't seen it yet, Cori and Josh welcomed a son, Jack Joseph Hammerschmidt. 9 # 13 1/2 oz. 22 inches. He is a big boy! Pictures were up on facebook. Cori said that Riley laid claim to him and just held him and said "baby". Can't wait to get up there to see him, I imagine we'll go up for baptism.

Yesterday was my resting day haha.. There were several things I could have done, but just didn't get to them.

Today was much different. My friend, Carrie, came over from Astoria and spent the day. She brought some supplies, and we both set up in the dining room and cut paper all day! She cut many, many images and shapes with the cricut, and I helped some with that. Then I got the Big Shot out and cut out a lot of die cuts. She stayed for lunch and then for a chili supper. She'll have lots of things to work on when she gets home. But then she left her pack of paper!

Next time we'll have to do some stamping and coloring.

I think I'll sit down with the Cricut in the morning and get some things cut for myself. Then I'll be ahead of the game when I'm making cards.

Yesterday I received a package from Deb. She said they were some things they found in Jane's storeroom. One was a notebook with all the details for our wedding. Oh my! I really was OCD. Also there was a video tape that was addressed to me from a Jerry Storley ?? We'll have to watch it one day soon and find out what it is. The only thing I can think of is maybe something relating to the ag school? But why did Jane have it? Hm, a mystery.

And now I'm going to go sit next to Orrin and watch some tv.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Here we are, almost done with January of this new year! It was a very blustery day this morning, but my mid afternoon the temps were up in the 40's. Wonderful. But as soon as the sun went down so did those temperatures.

I needed to do a few things in town, so off I went this morning. As I said, it was quite blustery and lots of ground drifting, but it was low to the ground and nothing was sticking, so other than the wind buffeting the vehicle, it was doable. Again, I've driven in worst. But - - I got my errands done as quickly as possible and headed back home.

Darwin and Delores had been to Dennis Kamrath's funeral, which was held at the Dawson Covenant church and afterwards they stopped for coffee, which extended into a very nice visit. Lots of reminiscing going on. :) That happens a lot in our senior group, haha.

Orrin is feeling some better today, so the meds must be working. But we both still took a nap after our company left.  :(  Now I'm afraid I'm not going to be tired for a while.

Some exciting news! Cori texted to say that contractions had started. The last news I had was from Wendy, and she was at 7 cm and at the hospital, I believe. So now we are just waiting for the call to say we have a new baby in the family!!

And that's enough excitement for us. . .haha.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Monday/Tuesday, January 25-26, 2016

Hmm, here I am again, combining two days! I truly was going to write last night, but for some reason I was just really tired. I think driving in bad weather just took the sap right out of me.

Yesterday I realized that I had an appointment at 12, not at 2, so I hurried up and did a few things before I took off. The weather reports were iffy, but decided it wasn't all that bad. I had haircut, manicure and pedicure appointments and I was supposed to have a chiropractic appointment after that.

It was snowing when I left (I took the pickup) but not too hard, and really didn't seem that bad. I made it to Montevideo in plenty of time, and the gals got me in and done up as quick as possible. The pedicure felt really good, I hadn't had one since late last summer. In the meantime, the snow kept falling. But I'd driven in worse! I made a quick stop at the library and then headed home. The first several miles were not nice at all, but there was always visibility. By the time I got to Dawson, it had let up quite a bit. The storm was coming from the west and heading northeast, so I had driven out of it. I stopped at Subway and picked up supper, and then decided I would cancel the chiro appointment and reschedule. I just wanted to get home at that point. We only got an inch or two total.

And like I said, I was just exhausted at that point. We ate an early supper and I fell asleep on the couch by 7!

Orrin had a very unpleasant night again, he's had this cough that just doesn't go away. So when he woke up this morning, he said he was going in. He called the clinic and got an appointment for 10:30. He also had some parts ready in Watertown, so it was a multipurpose trip! He got in, had some lab work (it wasn't strep) and saw the doctor. Probably the fastest appointment ever! He got some powerful antibiotics and she gave him a sample of dulera, as he had asthma like symptoms. We'll see how that all goes. I told him that our insurance did not cover dulera, but this was just a sample thing for now. I think he's doing better already.

We did make a stop at HyVee and picked up a few things.

I had a book that was due and couldn't be renewed, so I decided I would just get it read before I returned it! It was the new Harry Bosch book by Michael Connelly and very good. So I did something I haven't done in a long time, and read a book in one day!

And now that's the end of the day. Hope your day was a good one!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Sunday, January 24, 2016

Well, here I am, having missed a few days again. Not too much going on, so that's the problem. Friday, Delores did call and invite us over for Darwin's birthday. There are several of us with January birthdays, so it was a group celebration.

I was going to bake bread anyway, so decided to bake buns instead, so I did that and took a couple dozen along for supper. Delores had made a couple of really good soups, and other goodies were brought, so had lots to eat! Kathy and Terry, Betty and Pete, Donna and Marv, Karyl and Jim (Moeller), Dean and Connie and the kids were all there as well. We had a really good visit, it had been ages since we had seen some of them. Before we knew it, it was 11:30 and way past time to go home! So by the time we did get home, I was too tired to write much.

Yesterday was pretty much a non-event. I did some laundry and some cleaning up, Orrin was in the shop until noon, and that's about it.

This morning was early church and bible study. We've moved on into 2nd Corinthians and actually made some progress today, we finished the 1st chapter!  After church, Krauses and us had lunch together at the Roadstop (I think that's what it's called). We actually all had breakfast, and it was very good.

Before we went home, we stopped at Menard's to find a humidifier. We're hoping that it will help our dry coughs we've been plagued with the last week or so. We are so pathetic, we changed into our pj's when we got home! We put on the golf channel and Orrin kind of dropped off right away. I decided I was going to get that humidifier out of the box and set up. It actually was quite simple so it didn't take me that long to do it. I filled it up with distilled water, so now we'll see if it helps. I displaced Teddy's spot for his bed with the humidifier and got a few dirty looks from him, but he'll adjust.

Wendy sent some pictures of her fishermen and their catches, looks like they had a good day. Tim and Matthew had met Jeremy in eastern South Dakota for some fishing. Wendy and Eli stayed home, Eli had Destination Imagination yesterday. So they had some quality time together.

Oh, Dan and Tosha, in visiting with Karyl and Jim Moeller we discovered that Lance Waege is Karyl's nephew! Small WELS world, yet again. I guess I never knew what Karyl's maiden name was.

And that's all from western Minnesota. It was a pretty nice day today, sure hope it stays that way through tomorrow, as I have appointments in Montevideo.

Hugs from Orrin, Linda and a grumpy dog

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

Good evening! We're having a heat wave! It was in double digits above zero today, I think my car showed 26. And it should get warmer over the next few days. It will feel good after the below zero #'s..

I was up and out the door early this morning. I made it to Watertown for the 8:50 women's bible study. It was quite blustery on the way over, I was concerned that I may have made a bad decision.  The bible study was great, though, there were 10 of us there plus a couple of munchkins! We're going to be studying with the book "No Wonder they Called Him Saviour" by Max Lucado. We did the first chapter today and it really opens the door for much discussion. I think we'll all enjoy this.

After bible study, I took some parts out to Hedahl's for Orrin and then went to GSI to see if I could help. I didn't think they would turn me down. I spent the rest of the day unpacking some boxes, checking things in them, pricing and hanging them up. I got through 4 boxes, so I was quite proud of myself. There's opportunity for lots of Christian fellowship too.  And I found some cute things for Maria. I did look for some things for Eli and Matthew, but didn't see too much. It's nice when you unpack the boxes and have first pick!  I'm hoping Maria likes what I found.

I left around 4 and made stop at HyVee on my way out of town. Several things managed to jump into my cart! Well, it is senior discount day, haha.

And now I am home, catching up on the computer and ready to join Orrin on the recliner.  :)

Busy and satisfying day.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

I am going to get this done before I sit down and get comfortable and fall asleep again! Not that much to report for the last few days anyway, pretty quiet in freezing western Minnesota.

Sunday we went to early service and bible study. We had breakfast at Culver's and a quick stop at HyVee before heading home. Just a quiet afternoon at home.

Monday was more of the same. I did get a couple loads of laundry done. And I'm still unsuccessfully watching for those kitties. I just worry that they aren't surviving this cold weather. And hoping that they moved on to the neighbor's!  Teddy seems to look around when he goes out, too, wondering where they are.

Today was Treadlers day. We met a little earlier, and next time we'll meet earlier still. Then we can have lunch instead of supper and get home earlier. I cut out some fabric and batting and settled on some backing, but brought it home to sew. I'm used to my own machine, and it's too heavy to haul around.

Sad news to day, when a friend messaged that the few people left at EMPI got notice this morning that they would also be laid off, probably in the next few weeks. So this fine company will soon be done. That will be a sad happening for the community and the people that have worked there.

And now I need to get to sleep early, as tomorrow morning is women's bible study and right now I'm planning on staying in and working at GSI.

Have a great evening!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Saturday, January 16, 2016

Brrr, what a cold day! And we went out in the cold tonight! We met Al, Lisa and the boys for supper in Granite Falls. It was a great meal and an even greater visit, thanks so much, guys for doing this!

I had a slow start this morning for some reason. I was debating between taking a quick nap or just getting ready for going out. I decided to shower and get ready, which was a good thing, as my company came shortly after I was done. My friend that was coming over to get some cats, came about 11, with her son. The problem was, the cats weren't around! We visited for a while and then one of them did come to the step. Well, actually 2, but the orange one was not very tame and wouldn't come. The other one was extremely tame and came right in the house. He proceeded to sit on laps and demand to be petted (you know how cats can be). So at least they were able to take him home. The others never did come up again, I sure hope they're okay. I told Shar that if they showed up we would bring them over. It was so cold today, I'm sure that was the problem.

After that, I got busy and wrapped Donald's present and finished his card. And then, it was time to get ready for supper out.  Here's his card -

And here's the inside -

The reason the minions are on there, are because I got ink splotched (fingerprints) on the cards, and they covered them up! I hate when that happens. The card was another fun one to do.

And that's it for today. By the way, we were celebrating because it was my birthday today, and Donald's is Tuesday.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Thursday through Friday January 14-15, 2016

It's been a busy few days. We still have 5 cats at our door. And it's sooo cold, I feel so sorry for them. A friend is going to pick up 3 of them tomorrow. Is anyone out there needing a couple cats? They're really pretty and very friendly. We've decided someone must have dumped them off, they're not wild cats at all. We can easily pick them up and pet them. (Well, I do, Orrin's not really a cat person, he's barely a dog person!)

Yesterday morning I decided I'd better make a salad to take along up north. When that was done,I got ready to head to Graceville. Before I left, Orrin called to tell me he was on the way home! I had expected him on Friday, so that was a surprise. I guess they didn't think he needed the stress test. All of his tests, etc., went well. Whew, big sigh of relief.

So I drove up to Garnet's. All of the birthday party ladies were there, even Marlene. She's in the home now, and scheduled to move into the assisted living there. It was so nice to see them, and visit with everyone. We all agreed that we missed Jane. A lot. We played some dice after lunch, a new game, but a simple one. Well, new to me. I love Garnet and Armand's house, it belonged to his grandmother, I believe. I left there early enough so I was home before dark. Orrin had actually beat me home.

This morning I straightened out the house and cleaned up the mess I'd left in the kitchen. My friends from work, Sharlene and Carrie came for lunch, and again it was a great time to visit. Carrie wanted to see my cutting machines in action, so I got the Cricut out and also the Big Shot Plus. I was embarrassed that I was a bit slow in getting the Cricut going, I hadn't used it for quite a while. But not I think I'm going to have to cut some things. Carrie said she might come back another day and do some more. And Sharlene said they would take 3 of the cats! Yeaaaa!!

Then we all left for Clear Lake to meet up with some work friends. All but just a couple will be done on Monday, I think there will be 30 left, but who knows for how long? So sad. I just stayed for an hour, most of my closer friends from those days were not there. It will probably be the last time for one of these get-togethers. Quite a few of them do have jobs lined up so I was really pleased for them.

I must have turned my ankle at some point, because it is really sore now. Not sure when that happened, but I grabbed one of Orrin's canes, and that helped.

I don't think I had mentioned, but last fall I joined an online birthday-crafting club. We send cards to three people each month that have birthdays, and then on our birthday, we get cards from 36 (supposedly) people. It's been fun to see the creativity. I have gotten 15 so far, so don't know if I'll reach that 36 mark, but it doesn't matter. The cards all have to be hand made, so they're all special.

And that's about it for tonight.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Hi! Anyone a powerball winner? I did pick up a few tickets, but don't know if they were winners, since the #'s aren't up on the site yet. They just announced them on the news, but I missed it. Oh, well, it's fun to play and dream, anyway.

It was a quiet day here, seems so strange not to have Orrin come in the door. He had a few phone calls today, but they all seemed satisfied to know they could call back on Friday. Teddy keeps looking at me as if he's asking what's going on?

I did run into town this afternoon. I needed to pick up a few things. I opened the door, and there were 5 cats sitting on the steps, looking at me! 5!! They're all different and all seem pretty friendly. One let me pet him, and they all looked like they'd like to come in. They must belong to someone to be that friendly, and they look well fed, they are not feral or stray cats. Anyone need a cat or 2? I worry about them here, cats don't last long, they seem to get run over a lot, too busy a road.

Of course, I had to feed them. Which means they'll probably be around for a while.

It was beautiful out today, I never even looked at the temperature, but it was quite warm. I hope it lasts a while.

Orrin called tonight, and his appointments went well today. His prostate exam was good, his #'s are down, which is good. Tomorrow he sees the doctor again, and then has a stress test in the afternoon, which is new. I'm thinking he'll stay at Al's tomorrow night and come home on Friday.

Well, that's all for tonight, Hugs

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Hi! It's lonely here. Orrin left this afternoon for Jeremy's and will leave in the morning from there to go to his Mayo appointments. He went by himself, as I had something else going on. It seems so strange to have him do that, and it's super quiet here. Not that he makes a lot of noise or anything, but it is a warm body!

I got Jeremy's card done, (I know it's late, sorry) so I could send it with him.

It was kind of fun.

We had appointments at the chiropractor this afternoon, it has been a month since we were there. I didn't really have any aches, but it still felt good. Orrin felt like he needed it. After that, we came back home, and Orrin got his stuff together and in the pickup and left.

He called tonight on the landline to let me know he made it. Actually, Maria called! :) We had a little visit and then I talked to Opa. He said that he had called my cell phone twice and it never went through. I had it right next to me, and it never rang. That happens sometime, I don't understand it. Alan, any clues?

Well, it's time to go to sleep, have a great night!

Hugs, Linda and Teddy

Monday, January 11, 2016

Good evening!  I didn't get a post done last night, guess what? I fell asleep on the recliner, surprise, surprise. I decided to write earlier tonight so that didn't happen again.

It was cold and windy yesterday, but we got to early service and bible study. We didn't have any other business in town, so we just ate breakfast and headed home. I had received a coupon from IHOP for a free breakfast, so that's where we went! Their service seems to have improved dramatically.

I did some stamping for cards in the afternoon, I should be set for coloring for quite a while! I need to do some catching up on my cards. Other than that, not much else for yesterday. I didn't watch Downton Abbey yet, I'll have to do that while Orrin is gone. We watched the Vikings game, what a disappointment! They should have had that one.

He has his Mayo appointments this week, so will be leaving tomorrow afternoon and home sometime Thursday evening, maybe Friday. I was invited to Graceville to a birthday party for friends there on Wednesday, so I chose to stay home for that. We are also having another get together with EMPI friends on Friday, so I invited one over for lunch beforehand and then we can go to that together. Oh, the social life I lead! HaHa

Today the weather cleared up a little bit, but we had some light flurries most of the day. I made goulash for supper, haven't done that for quite a while. Now it's time to settle down in front of the TV again. Hmm, or maybe read?

Have a great night!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Saturday, January 9, 2016

Just a cold Minnesota day here. The temperatures really took a dive, just as predicted. I can't even imagine what it will be like to be playing football tomorrow. Brrr.

I did some paperwork and did get one card made. I am behind on that, but just can't seem to get my mojo going. But working on the one kind of inspired me, so more will be done tomorrow.

We decided to run into town for lunch, something we rarely do, but I had a bogo coupon for a blizzard. After going out in the cold, I did wonder how wise it was, but oh, well, we're from Minnesota, right? There was some blowing snow, but no fresh stuff coming down. I think it got colder the longer we were in town. The Buick wouldn't even start! It's the only car that sits outside so. . .

We finished up the chinese tonight. There is usually enough for at least 3 or 4 meals when we get take out there. Then watched a Hallmark movie, and Orrin is down for the count.

And that's about it for the day!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Friday, January 8, 2016 Christa's birthday!

Good evening! It was pretty blustery today, but just light snow on and off. Some drifting across the roads and a few incidents of low visibility. I know this because I went into Watertown this afternoon for embroidery class.

It was an interesting class, only 6 of us there, so we just used one machine, and since I sat in the center seat, I got to run the new, dreamy, Destiny. Our project was a 3D brooch, which really wasn't that interesting, but it was a different technique. They also had a trunk show from Anita Goodesign, which consists of many samples of the work from their designs.

I didn't have anything else to do in town, so came home right afterwards. So it was a short and somewhat uneventful day.

And that's about it from snowy Canby area. Stay warm and stay safe!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Thursday, January 7, 2016

Hi! Missed a day yesterday, but it's been rather slow here anyway. I did get at some laundry yesterday, and then drove over to Montevideo for my manicure. It started to snow a little while I was there, but didn't last long. The weather has continued to be warmer than normal, but I keep hearing we're in for a drastic change Saturday night into Sunday.

There's another football game on Sunday and the temps are supposed to drop to zero and below. They had an interesting story on the news in the morning, there's a company in Minnesota, WSI, that manufactures clothing for the colder weather. Something about wicking qualities, etc. Anyway, they make all the uniforms for the Vikings, and Monday morning they had received a huge order from the Seahawks for jerseys, socks and pants. I never realized that there was anything like that available! They have a website if you're interested in researching it. I believe it's located in Monticello, MN.

I didn't do much else in Monte, just stopped at the library and after the mani, picked up some chinese for supper. They have a pretty good chinese place there, just to go after 2:30. Only problem is, their English is horrible, so it's better to go in and give the order than to call it in.

This morning I felt kind of (just a little) guilty because I was tired so I took a nap! I do miss being able to get out and walk.  This afternoon I realized we were on our last loaf of bread, so I baked some more. And that's about it! I just had a piece of the end of a fresh loaf, I just love that!

Well, Orrin is already sleeping in his magic chair, so think I might do the same. Although it is my chance to watch whatever I want!  hehe

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and a very bored Teddy.

Either very late Tuesday, or very early Wednesday January 5-6, 2016

Whoops, fell asleep in the recliner! Now I won't be tired enough to go to bed, so may as well blog!

It was a busy day. I was up early to shower and go to Watertown for my blood work. Then I got to see Dr. Sarah sooner than scheduled, so that was nice. I lost a few pounds and my #'s were much the same, though I would have liked them to have gone lower. Can't happen when I don't pay attention to the diet. The holidays didn't help any. And all the cookies!

I had to miss book club, as I couldn't get back to Canby in time for it. On the way over, I had decided that instead of driving back to Canby, and then back to Clear Lake, I would see if they needed some more help at GSI with cleaning. I called Kathy and she was sure they would. So that's what I did, I hope I was some help, I was only there a few hours. They do a really good job of getting the store shipshape. They had worked yesterday too.

I had stopped at Hardee's for something to eat before that, and Al brought pizza for lunch, so the empty spots in my tummy were filled.

Then on to Clear Lake for Treadlers.  There were only a few of us (6, eventually) so we just did a few odds and ends. We didn't start any big jobs, but cleaned out the supply closet and had a nice visit! We had an early supper, so I was on the way home by 5:30. It had slipped my mind that we had decided to start earlier so we could finish earlier, but I'll remember next time.

Brought in the few bags I had picked up at WalMart (I had to stop for a prescription) and settled down for some tv. And that's about it! Oh, read the Canby News, and there was a front page article about the Porter Elevator going bankrupt. There are going to be many upset (and rightly so)farmers who are not going to see checks. So sad.

And that's all, folks! Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Monday, January 4, 2016

Good evening. Not much news tonight. I've been doing really well (I know, it's only day 4) about keeping the table and cupboard clean. It is a good feeling. Now to get Orrin to cooperate! And another resolution is to keep up to date on this blog!

More organizing today and I spent some time on the phone trying to figure out an alternative to the advair that I use. Unfortunately, there isn't any. It is supposed to go out of patent this year, so maybe there will be a generic.

I also had a phone call from an old friend in Graceville, inviting me for the birthday club party the 14th. It will be fun to see them all again. Orrin reminded me that was when his Mayo appointment is, but he is fine with going without me. He'll stay at Jeremy's and go from there. Just his routine yearly visit.

I got ambitious and took out some pork chops for supper and then cut up the squash that's been sitting on the cupboard and baked that too. It was good! We ate early because I have blood work in the morning, so will only have water the rest of the evening.

My appointments are at 9 and 9:45, so don't think I'll make it back in time for book club. I think I'll stop back there anyway, to return some books and pick up the book for next month. I enjoyed this one, and am bummed to not be there for the discussion. It was "The Story Keeper" by Lisa Wingate and is really a YA book, but some of the YA books are better, anyway.

I watched the preview of Downton Abbey, but still haven't watched the show. Maybe later tonight.

And that's about it, I'll go join Orrin in the recliners and probably fall asleep!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Oh, I forget, I set up our calendars for the year, that took an hour or so!

Sunday, January 3, 2016

I'm just a little late getting this posted. We had to watch the exciting Vikings vs. Packers game!! The Vikings led for most of the game, but then in the last quarter the Packers started catching up. But the Vikings prevailed!! Yeaaa, Vikings. And I'm not even a football fan. Orrin has to explain things to me and I'm still not sure I understand. But for the Vikes to beat the Panthers at Lambeau Field is quite a big deal.  Made some of our children very happy!

As a result I haven't watched the new episode of Downton Abbey yet, but I have it DVR'd, so will watch it tomorrow. Orrin's not a fan anyway.

We were up and getting ready for early service this morning, but then Orrin had a stomach upset, so we waited.  He fell asleep and slept right through the time to leave, so we even missed bible study and second service. We still had to go to Watertown, as I had prescriptions to pick up, so we did drive over. Stopped at WM for the prescriptions and Menard's for a part he needed. Ate at Culver's and then headed home again.

Orrin did a few odds and ends outside and I did some organizing of my craft supplies. I can now feel organized to get a couple cards done tomorrow. After I watch Downton Abbey! :)

Orrin had gotten the distiller set up a few weeks ago, but hadn't connected it to the faucets upstairs yet. He got that done this weekend, so we now have distilled water from one of the kitchen faucets, and the water to our icemaker is also distilled. He put in a new faucet there, and it sure puts out water a lot faster.

I'm going to try to post a couple pictures from our Christmas travels, hope it works better now. The last few weeks just went by in a blur, so many things happening.
Micah's program, he's in the red sweater with the white neckband.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy
