We had a great 4th of July, I hope you all did, too. Al, Lisa and the boys came over to Canby for the movie Friday night, and got here late, so slept in late! Well, Al and Lisa did, I don't think that's in the boys mindset! Oh, we did find out that Gary had fireworks, so we did drive over there for that, and they were pretty good!
Al and Dad got busy and installed the new storm door. We decided that with the way the patio/steps are now the old door's configuration didn't work well, so needed one that opened the other way. We've had this door all winter, just setting in the garage, so it's a relief to have it installed! It did take them all morning and into the afternoon. Alan is very particular, so it had to be done right! It does need some adjusting yet, but they needed parts that they just got today. It doesn't close tightly on its own yet.
Lisa and I just sat back on the patio and enjoyed watching them. Nate discovered the joys of driving the golf cart and drove all over the yard most of the day. Until he ran into my bird bath, the cement one from my mom. Only damage was to the bird bath, which wasn't in good shape anyway. Donald wasn't interested in driving, but he rode along once in a while.
We were going to go into P.K.'s for supper, until I called and found out they weren't open! So I got a couple of Papa Murphy pizzas out instead. The one on the bottom shelf of the oven got a little tough. They just aren't as good out of the freezer as they are fresh. But we ate them. Well, we had to pick all the mushrooms off for Donald. I think we ate well enough all day, actually, I made pancakes for breakfast and then we had sweet corn for lunch.
After all of that, we headed over to Madison for some more fireworks!! They were pretty good, too. Orrin and I found that if we opened up the sunroof and laid back in the seats, we could see just fine from inside the pickup!
This morning it was up early for first service and we made it in plenty of time! We knew that bible study would be just too hard for the boys, so we went right to The Wheel Inn for breakfast. Lisa and I had omelettes, and they were awesome! Then we had the wonderful treat of a trip to Menard's. The guys got the parts they needed, but didn't find what we needed for a hand rail for the steps. I guess we'll need Jeremy to find that for us.
They left around 2:30, and Orrin and I just relaxed. Actually, Orrin has been napping on and off every since! LOL Here are a few pictures from the weekend,
Nate giving rides. The guys working on the door. Playing some lawn darts.
As a sidenote, Eli had his championship ballgames this weekend, here's a post from that.
In an epic game, the City Championship game ends in a 3-3 tie. Rain started in the SEVENTH INNING and wouldn't stop. Congratulations to the Yankees and Red Sox who share the City Championship. The main thing here is that for only the second time in 8 years, the word "Rushmore" is on the championship trophy.
Our boy is a star pitcher! Yeaaa, Eli! Jeremy, Laura and Maria were out there this weekend, so enjoyed the game, too. Luke, Jordan and the kids went there to see them as well, I think they had a great time. And Wendy's neighborhood goes absolutely bonkers with fireworks, so much excitement.
And now I see lightening closer, so had better finish this up. Hope you all ad a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy
[The Lord] said to
me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect
in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my
weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for
Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships,
in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am
strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
