Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016

Oh, my I was reminded today that I hadn't blogged for a long time, so I checked it out. All I can say is ARGHHH!! So sorry. Let me get this ball rolling again, please. If I had a reasonable excuse I would give it, but I don't.

We went to early church this morning, it was a wonderful service. The grade school children sang "Hosanna In The Streets" and did a marvelous rendition. The music director really does an amazing job with all of the groups. The children marched in with palms and then went to the balcony for the music. Other years they would hand out palms and anyone that wanted to could walk up the aisle with them. I think we like it this way better.

After church there was bible study, we made it through 1 chapter of 2 Corinthians. Wednesday morning we had women's bible study and really had a lively discussion, I love it when ideas and feelings are exchanged. We have a nice mix for women's study, of all ages.

After bible study today we went to the DQ for lunch with Terry and Kathy, and from there we separated. The men went to the gun show and Kathy and I went to the craft show at the mall. There certainly weren't the # of exhibitors that they had in the past, but there was a nice bunch of displays. There was a jewelry maker from Fargo that I was especially drawn to, and brought home a  necklace and earring set and a few pairs of earrings. Orrin was thrilled.

We were done at the mall long before the guys, so we headed to Krause's where Kathy and I got in a couple games of Scrabble. Her experience with it sure showed, she tromped me in the first game. In  my defense, I had mostly 1 point words and a lot of vowels. The second game was more even, I took an early lead and it was neck and neck to the end. When Kathy won.  :(

She had a roast in the slow cooker all day, so it was decided that we would have supper with them. It was great, mashed potatoes, corn, roast beef, all of the good stuff. And I felt stuffed afterwards. At that point, we realized we'd better get home as Teddy had been home along all day.

He was a good fellow though, and didn't make any kind of a mess. He was pretty anxious to get out the door though. This morning when I put him out, he was acting kind of anxious so I thought I'd better see what was up. I stepped out and immediately heard the yipping of coyote over by the grove. I didn't let him out very long and he was happy to get inside again. I'm always afraid he will try to chase after them, and he would make a nice, tasty meal for them. Of course, he thinks he's the mighty hunter, so it's always a worry!!

It would be hard to fill in the last several days (weeks?) so I won't try. Most of them were not all that interesting. I am woefully behind on my birthday cards, I do apologize, they will get out this week!!!  I did waste a whole day reading a mystery.

And I believe that is it for tonight. I won't make promises, but will definitely try harder to keep this active. We hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Good evening! Don't know how long this will be, I'm kind of tired. We've had a long day. I made pancakes for breakfast. We left for Watertown around 11:30. We had lunch at the Stockman's Cafe, because we'd heard so many good things about them. It was okay. Not outstanding, just okay.

Then we went to Snyder eye clinic and picked up our new specs. I think I'm going to like mine, they seem much lighter than the other pair. Orrin's are almost the same as what he had. I'll take a selfie tomorrow and post it.

Orrin needed to order some shop tickets, as Office Max closed, and that's where he always got his. So we went to Office Peeps, no problem.

Then, just to kill some time we stopped at HyVee for a few things. Then it was off to first service. Pastor Lindhorst officiated, and he sang, he has a wonderful voice.

First of all, the day started off with Cori letting us know that they had to take Jack to the hospital, he was having trouble breathing. So they put him on oxygen. He also has pneumonia. Poor little guy, he's been pretty miserable. They came close to putting him in ICU, but he's improving now. Thank goodness he's a strong little baby. Please say some prayers for him, and also for Riley, as she has RSV also.

And now I'm going to settle down and probably fall asleep in front of the TV. Orrin is already there.

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

Hi! Sorry to be missing in action so long, no excuse really, just haven't gone on here.

Last Friday, my friend Carrie was over to play with me again! She loves the Cricut, and we're kind of learning together. She started a new job this week, so probably won't get over as often. I'm so glad she was able to find something, a lot of the past EMPI employees are still looking. About 6 of them are also starting at Daktronics, where she is working.

Cori posted that Jack and Riley both have RSV. Please pray for a quick recovery for them both. It's fortunate that Jack is a big boy, so is better able to fight it off. He's up to 12# 8 oz. and not even a month old.

Last Wednesday morning, I was leaving for bible study, and remembered something in the house, so I got out of the pickup, much too quickly, and slid on the ice. I landed on my bum, so damage was at a minimum, but was really sore, and had headaches for the rest of the week. Yesterday Orrin and I had chiropractic appointments, and apparently I really needed that adjustment. I have to go back again on Friday, but this has helped already.

I did stay after bible study and worked at GSI, and then went to early service. Orrin stayed home, although I did offer to come back for him. Tomorrow night we'll both go. We both ordered new glasses and they are ready, so we'll go early enough to pick them up.

We had lunch at Four Seasons with Kathy and Terry Sunday. They left for AZ last night, and will be back the end of the week. They'll be able to enjoy a little sunshine, though it's been pretty nice here. Not a lot of sunshine, it's been kind of gloomy, but it's been fairly warm.

Maria was so happy, she found an antler shed in their yard. How exciting for her! We were hoping to get over there last Saturday, but it didn't work out.

I did get several cards made and sent off, and still have a few to do. And that's all for tonight!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.

Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2016

I'm not sure how long this will be, I'm really tired tonight. But it's been much too long since my last post, so here we go -

It was a long day today. Orrin had a Dr. appointment this morning, so we left home a little after 9, with Teddy in tow. We dropped him off at my EMPI friend, Kassie, in Clear Lake, to be groomed. Vicki wasn't able to, so I gave Kassie a call, and she came through! This is a lady that has 4 little boys, which includes a set of twins. The other two are under 5. Anyway, she did a great job, and Teddy seemed happy as could be.

We made it in time for Orrin's appointment, and I took care of some business while there. Then we decided to have lunch at the Wheel Inn, which was yummy. I thought a piece of pie would be nice, which ended up costing as much as my sandwich/soup special!! Then we needed to get to WalMart for our prescriptions and a few other things. We had to kill time until our 2 o'clock eye doctor appointments.

They both went well, and then, since frames were half price, we both decided we would get new glasses! I just had a slight change, but new frames sounded good. hehe  Dad's are just about like what he had, but he's happy too.

Then we had a little time before 4 o'clock church. There was lunch after church, too, and had a nice visit with friends. Krauses, Kreugers, Noeldners and us, just a chatty bunch!

Orrin was anxious to get home so we were headed back to Clear Lake before 6. Stopped to pick up Teddy, he smelled so good! She cut his ears short, and I really like that look. No more ears dragging in his bowl.

Not too much to catch up on from the last several days. Sunday it was blowing and snowing, but we decided to try heading to church, which worked out fine. The winds were supposed to be up to 55 MPH. Luckily, there wasn't a lot of fresh snow.

And I am now officially pooped. Have a great night!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and a trimmed up Teddy, ready for the weekend in Bismark!

Thursday, February 4, 2016

Good evening! I'm still having trouble getting used to the new month. I keep wanting to type January!

Yesterday was quiet for most of the day, but then Darwin called and suggested we go over to Granite Falls for the buffet at the casino. So then I decided I should bake some banana bars to have when we got back. And decided also that some dusting and vacuuming was in order.

They were here a little after 4. We did some "scenic" driving around the Granite area and got to the casino after 5:30. They have an excellent buffet, but like most buffets, one tends to eat too much. Good stuff though! They did have bread pudding, but the sign said it was prepared on January 27. Hmm, it did look pretty dry. Even though I love bread pudding, I passed on that one. We visited a while and let the meal digest and then headed home around 7. And when we got here, they declined coming in for bars and ice cream! So I guess I have to freeze some of those bars.

Today I started a new book, so didn't get things done that I had intended to do. Oh, well.

I forgot to mention before, but when we went to church on Sunday (we went to late service, since we were staying for pot luck and annual meeting) we were sitting next to a young family. Their little boy (around 3 or 4) looked over at me and smiled, and said "I like your haircut!" I'm thinking he meant the white hair, but it was so cute!

And that's all folks!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016 (and update on 1 and 2)

Hi, I'm writing this early to catch up on the last two days. I may be back later tonight.  It was women's bible study this morning, but I decided to stay safe and stay home. The snow has stopped, but there's enough out there to be a problem with the winds we're supposed to be getting. It's February, so I guess some weather can be expected.

Monday I spent a good part of the day stamping some images so I can do some coloring this week. I have enough stamped to keep me happy for the rest of the year I think!

Yesterday I went into Canby for book club. We reviewed the Lorna Landvik book "Best to Laugh". I've read quite a few of hers, they're entertaining. She's from Minnesota. Our next book is Michael Connelly's latest, The Crossing, which I've already read. If you like his, it's very good. He's the author of "The Lincoln Lawyer". One of his characters is Heronimus (sp) Bosch, or just Harry Bosch. There is a series on Amazon Prime tv titled Bosch. We watched the first season, I'm not sure if the second season is out yet.

Anyway, from book club I went over to Trinity Treadlers. We're starting around 11 now, so I just made it in time for lunch! After lunch, I looked out and just decided I'd better get home. Nothing like just eating and running! I'm glad I did leave though, the snow kept falling and the wind was quite strong. Visibility was 1/4 mile or less most of the way home. Schools all around were closing. I hope the other ladies all made it home safely.

I read Kathy's blog and see that their flight home was cancelled, no surprise there. Hopefully they'll be able to fly home today.

Today was supposed to be women's bible study, followed by working at GSI, but as I said, that got scrubbed. I'll maybe try to get in to help at GSI another day, when the sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing!

Now I'm going to do the bible study alone, :(. And thinking I'll do some baking and some coloring of those images. Maybe even some organizing and decluttering!

Hugs, Orrin, Linda and Teddy

Saturday/Sunday, January 30/31, 2016

Good evening! I seem to be doing this in doubles lately. Saturday was very quiet. I realized we were down to our last loaf of bread, so I baked some. And that's about as exciting as it got. I asked Orrin if he wanted french toast for supper (haven't done that for a while) and it really tastes different with homemade bread. It soaks up the egg mixture a lot more.

There was annual meeting with a pot luck dinner today, so we went to late service.  We went early enough to go to bible study, but then it turned out that there wasn't our regular bible study with our usual group. There was a presentation in the fellowship hall led by Pastor Lindhorst, about Christian education.

We then went to second service. 3 of the choirs sang, the lower grades from St. Martin's and the upper grades from St. Martin's and the honor choir from GPLHS. It was very nice. And Pastor Lindhorst had an especially good sermon, again about Christian education and the parent's role in that. Here is the link to the service, please watch it if you can http://www.stmartinschurch.com/current-service

There was a surprising turnout at second service, that's usually not as well attended as first service. And after that, we had a potluck meal in the fellowship hall.

Followed by the annual meeting. They had election of officers and of the different committees, etc. They also had a discussion about adding 3 yr. old to the 4 yr. old daycare. This is going to involve adding on to the school building. They did decide to go ahead with preliminary investigation by hiring an architect, etc. All of these things are possible by the generous endowment that the church received the end of last year. We don't have any capital debt right now. Praise be to God!

We stopped at WalMart for some meds and a few other things. Orrin was going to get a haircut, but there was a 2 hour wait. So he remains shaggy.

Cori had called yesterday to tell us that baptism was going to be Valentine's Day. Can't wait to see that big boy!

And that's all there is! Hugs,
Orrin, Linda and Teddy
