Quiet kind of day here. Ted and I had a walk this morning before it got hot. I took him over to his day care late this afternoon, he's always so happy to go there that I feel kind of bad. But it's kind of boring here, so I don't blame him.

I embossed some cards to color, I still need to finish up the wedding card.  We leave in the morning for Duluth.  Not sure where from there.

Another voice heard from, just not happy news.  Wendy and Tim and the boys (well, maybe Matthew) won't be at the lake this year, either.  Orrin is starting to think we should just cancel in the future.  How do the rest of you feel?  Seems like the interest is just not there. If there are just a few of us, that's fine too. We'll just be a smaller group to enjoy the time. We'll have all kinds of room this year and will have until January to decide on next year.

Not much else to report, I'll probably not be on here until Sunday.

It was a very windy day today.  Ted and I went for a walk early and it was actually kind of chilly with the wind.  So glad we got some of the stuff around the place cleaned up yesterday.  

I mixed up some cookies this morning to put in the fridge to chill.  We had our chiro appointments this afternoon.  It is really helping me, but in the meantime the area that needs the work is very sore.  Orrin has been going longer and is healing faster.  2 appointments for me next week and then a week off for the lake!  After which, I'm sure I'll need more work.

We had lunch at the DQ and then came home.  We watched the special for the America's Got Talent show, which was fun.  I think we've watched that since almost the beginning.  

Then I baked the snickerdoodles I mixed up. 1 more batch in the freezer!  Now to decide what else to bake.

I sent out an e-mail about the lake and so far I've heard from Lisa and Cori.  ??

Tim posted this which I thought was pretty funny.  I'm sure most of you have seen it, but I'll share it anyway.

" I just have to say. I love being the dad of our two little boys. Sometimes it is really hard to keep a straight face when telling them not to do somethings. I got home tonight and Wendy told me the day care called and said Matthew and his buddies all went camando today. I said they just told us they had to wear pants and they said nothing about underwear. She said I wasn't helping."

Wow, it's almost the end of July!! I sent out an e-mail to all interested parties that it's 11 days to the lake!!  I've started some baking, but need to step it up a bit.  Please, kiddoes, let us know your schedules and your plans for that week??

Yesterday was kind of quiet. I did have a chiro appointment, and really got a workout.  I will say that it is doing some good, though, my arm is definitely not as achy as it once was.  Ted and I got a walk in.  

Deb called me in the afternoon and we had a nice long visit.  It's always good to hear from her, and catch up with the family.  They're getting excited about a trip to Alaska.  And of course, enjoying their new grandson!  

Al and Lisa were in Michigan last weekend for her niece's wedding.  I haven't talked to them since then, but the picture on facebook looked like it was a good time.  :)

I did some laundry today, still have a lot to get done.  Ted and I had another nice walk this morning.  Orrin got all of our trash burned, since we'd had .9" of rain last night, and the wind was still this morning.  There was quite a bit!! It's been too dry or windy to get it done before now.  Next spring, I think Peter will be burying our burning hole, so we'll have to come up with something new.  Where does all the garbage come from??  Orrin gets a fair amount in the shop as well.

We spent an exciting evening watching the tractor auction on RFDTV.  Well, Orrin enjoys it!  Then I messed with my stamping stuff for a while.  And now I'm ready for bed.  Orrin already is there.

Here I am, just skating in under the witching hour of midnight!  As usual, we sat down to watch some TV and I fell asleep!

Friday we drove down to Worthington to meet Stan and Carol.  They were on their way home to Washington after spending a month in Wisconsin with their kids.  It was so nice to see them and have that nice visit!  It's so nice when, even though it's a few years between visits, it's just like we saw them yesterday!  We did some catching up before they continued on their way to Spearfish.

Stan will start to enjoy his retirement when they return to Washington!  He said their kids kept him too busy to start yet.  Carol is going to work one more year, and then they plan to move to Wisconsin.  The visit was over much too soon, but so glad they stopped to do that!

Saturday was pretty much a wash.  I read a book and puttered around some.  Orrin did work in the shop for a while, since he wasn't out there on Friday.

This morning we got up for early service and our final bible study until September.  We're working on 1 John, and will resume again with that.  After, Al and Rose had invited all of the bible study group to their house for pot luck.  We didn't realize that it was going to be at noon, had planned on going home and coming back for a later gathering.  But this actually worked out better, we just stopped at HyVee and picked something up.  No one went hungry, there were lots of goodies to eat.  We had a great time of fellowship, with stories exchanged and lots of laughs.  We were home around 5, so didn't get anything done but eating popcorn!  LOL

We had a nice rain last night, again badly needed.  We got about half an inch.  They had closer to an inch in the Watertown area.

Well, I don't seem to get this done at  night, so I'll approach it this way today!  It's been a busy week, and usually if it gets late I can't seem to be motivated to sit at the computer.  And I see the last post I made was on Sunday!  So here's a little catching up.

Monday night I had CRS club. I had a chiro appointment before that, so went over around 5:30 for that, and then went to DQ for supper and then over to Joyce's for club.  We play garbage and that's always a good time.  Orrin always asks "what's new?" when I get home (or in the morning when he's awake) but there wasn't much new this week.  For a group of seniors, of which I'm the youngest, we do pretty well.

Tuesday was Treadlers.  I stamped a bunch of images in the morning to take along to color.  I'm planning on doing cards for the open house in October.  I did color several, but then I had problems with the ink bleeding when I used the watercolor brushes.  Grrrr.  There are a couple of very pretty quilts being made, lots of talent in that group.

Wednesday Orrin and I both had chiro appointments in Dawson.  This fellow treats it very aggressively for starters.  It seems to be helping, and he is motivating.  My arm is feeling less achy.  I've also managed to walk with Teddy every day this week.  We get up early enough to beat the heat.  Tonight is bible study, so another reason to post this earlier.

When I went out this morning, this is what I found -

A poor little fledgling that must have fallen out of the nest.  What should I have done?  I didn't know.  There are several nests, some under the eaves and some in the tree, so had no idea where it came from.  Orrin said to just leave it alone.  Which is what I did.  At noon, the poor thing was feet in the air.

And then at noon, Orrin said look out the window, quick!  And this is what we saw then -

Can you see the family of pheasants meandering toward the field?  The meandered a little faster when I went out the door to take the picture.

It was Jordan's birthday on Monday, and Stan's tomorrow.  We are now meeting them tomorrow in Worthington, so that worked out perfectly!  They are on their way back to Washington state from Wisconsin.

And now I should go finish reading for bible study tonight, have a great day!!

July 19, 2015 Cori and Josh's anniversary!

Good evening, I did warn that I probably wouldn't post last night and I didn't. Just had my tablet and decided I would just wait until we were home.

We got up early and made it to Mitchell by 9 yesterday morning.  Eli was up first for pitching, so we got to watch that!  He did good.  They played hard, but lost the first game.  Their team is totally 9 year olds and the other team was mixed 9 and 10 year olds.  You can really see a difference in the one year, in terms of knowledge and just plain size!  

We came back to the field at 2 to watch the second game which was against Watertown, and it was a more evenly matched game.  Hard fought, and they won 5-4!!  Yay! for them!  So that put the boys in a much better mood.  We bopped around in Cabela's for a while after that and then went back to the motel for a bit. 

Funny story on the motel.  Orrin checked in early, but we couldn't bring our stuff in until 3 so they could finish cleaning.  Well, we went back at 4 and they still weren't done!  They hadn't even started with that room.  The gal at the desk said, oh, I have a room on the 1st floor you can have, room 123.  So Orrin went to check that out, and there was luggage and stuff in that room!  She was very confused, she said she didn't have anyone in that room.  So we just waited and went back later and moved into 240, the original room.  We were telling Wendy about it and she asked what room number she had given us on the 1st floor.  We said room 123, Wendy said "that's our room"!!  The rooms weren't bad, but they need to upgrade their help!  LOL

We met with them all for supper at Whiskey Creek.  I had steak, which was tough..won't try that again.  And turned out one of the mothers was from the Brandt area, her mother worked at EMPI, and she was friends with Denise, and several others.  Crazy world!  Orrin and I were just kind of tag-alongs this weekend.

Orrin and I have become rather obsessed with golfing, especially the open this weekend.  The last day is tomorrow, since they've had two weather delays.  It's in Scotland, and their weather is horrendous!  We are both fans of this young Jordan Speith, he really is remarkable.  He was 5 under after round 2, and today finished at 11 under!  With the conditions of that course, that was very good!  He was leader, but then someone else ended with 12 under.  And Jordan is 21!  He's won both the Masters and the US Open.  Just a nice young man from Texas.  So whenever we had a chance we would watch the match.  Sorry to bore some of you, it's just such a great story!

And I posted this earlier. . . 

What is wrong with this picture?  Lisa figured it out pretty quickly.  The Mustang is gone!  I didn't think quick enough to take a picture of it when they drove off with it, so this was the next best thing I could think of.  :)  We'd had a few inquiries, but hadn't really advertised it much.  This fellow from Dawson had driven past and seen it and just decided to drive over and buy it!  Didn't even haggle over the price or anything.  So I loved it while I had it, but it was time to move on.

Krause's called around 5 and said they were on their way home from a family reunion in Tomah, WI and would like to stop this way to pick up their tractor.  So we said we'd make something for supper, and Kathy had beans from the weekend, so we managed to eat well once again!

Shortly after they left, Stan called.  They were going to headed back home from WI and wanted to meet somewhere.  So we are planning on meeting them on Thursday at noon in Worthington.  It has been a few years since we saw them, too!  

So our dance card will be full this week, haha.  And for right now, that's all from Canby area.

Hi!  Sorry to have been MIA for a few days.  Truthfully, I've not done much exciting or even interesting.  I've had a few blue days, just too many thoughts crowding in.  Hopefully it will improve.

Ted and I did take a walk yesterday, before it was too hot.  We walked as far as the stinky turkey stuff, and then turned around.  I think next time we will head the other direction because they really do smell!

Orrin and I have been following the 2015 Open from Scotland.  That is interesting.  That is one course that we would probably not even be able to tackle!  And the weather!  Wow, I thought Minnesota was challenging!

Here's a close up of the apple tree, I think it will surpass other years yet again!  I'm hoping we will still have volunteers to help pick come October.

Do you see all the baby apples?  Granted, we will lose a few to wind and stuff, but think there will still be plenty.

Today we headed out to Morris for Leroy's funeral.  It was in Morris with burial in the Chokio cemetery.  It was nice to see all the kids and also Pearl.  There weren't a lot of people there, but I guess there were quite a few at the visitation the night before.  We had never met the spouses or the children before, very rarely saw any of them actually.  Jill lives in Tijuana!!  Joan lives not too far from Chris.  And Dean and Carter are over by the cities, Annandale, I think.  That's where Leroy had been in his retirement.  The four kids sang "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" for the service and it was beautiful.  I had no idea they had that kind of talent.  

Then one with Ruth and I included.

The Vogt clan's footprint is getting smaller and smaller!  I shared a few anecdotes about the Diers' that mother had told me.  I remember the first time I met Pearl, Leroy rode up on a motorcycle with her when we were living in  Johnson!  He wanted to introduce her to Uncle Louis and Aunt Gretchen.  

We did drive out to the cemetery, we'd only been there once before.  We tracked down the Vogt plots.  The last time I'd been there it was very cold and windy.

Then we stopped in Dawson for Orrin's chiropractic appointment.  He seems to be having luck with this dr. so I decided to try it.  He's very thorough! We had been more used to the plunger type of treatment.  Well, Jordan does more manipulation and massage type.  It really felt good, bordering on painful at times!  I think it will help the aches and pains, though.

And that's about it.  Have a great evening.  Tomorrow will find us in Mitchell for Eli's ball games and will stay over into Sunday.  I'm not sure if I'll post, but will take my tablet along and if it works out, I will.
